Pittsburgh Litigation Headed by Todd Elliott
Since 1997, Mr. Elliott practiced civil litigation (plaintiff and defense) in state court proceedings throughout Western Pennsylvania.
Training & Experience
Mr. Elliott earned his law degree from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh. He is licensed to practice law in Pennsylvania and West Virginia. He works mainly in Western Pennsylvania, including Pittsburgh and Allegheny County where he lives, as well as nearby Beaver, Washington, and Butler counties.
Twenty-Seven (27) Years of Litigation Experience
Mr. Elliott has won many awards over $100,000 for clients hurt in motorcycle and other accidents. He works on complicated business lawsuits on the civil side. He also takes on challenging limited tort cases, where drivers chose less insurance coverage. In these cases, victims can only recover certain damages unless they can prove their injury was serious, or if they were hurt as a pedestrian or cyclist. Many of his cases were considered so complex that they were handled by a special court division.
Worked For Two Prominent Regional Law Firms
After working at two well-known local law firms, Mr. Elliott focuses on civil lawsuits. He handles cases involving broken contracts, construction disputes, problems with home contractors, mechanics liens, personal injury claims (for both injured people and those being sued), professional mistakes, injuries on properties, unfair business practices, and cases across multiple states.
Throughout his career, he has helped settle disputes, led several jury trials, and worked on appeals to Pennsylvania's highest courts. He has also served as an arbitrator in state court, making decisions like a judge would. Additionally, Mr. Elliott has been invited to judge national college mock trial competitions at the University of Pittsburgh.

Teaching Law School Students
Each year since 2016, Mr. Elliott has spoken to Duquesne Law School students about contract lawsuits in Pennsylvania courts. Former Dean and retired Superior Court Judge Maureen E. Lally-Green thanked Mr. Elliott for sharing his expertise.
Defense Experience
Our Pittsburgh lawyers have a strong track record defending clients. For instance, Mr. Elliott defended WorldCom's former CEO Bernard Ebbers in Pittsburgh when he faced lawsuits over WorldCom's falling stock prices.
In another case, Mr. Elliott worked for Nationwide Insurance when some of their agents left to start a competing business. Nationwide sued these former agents in Western Pennsylvania, and the agents sued back. This led to a long legal battle over claims of defamation and stolen business secrets.
Also, Mr. Elliott defended a Colorado corporation on a breach of contract suit filed in Allegheny County. In that case, the lower court dismissed the case based on a lack of jurisdiction and improper venue.
Mr. Elliott argued the case in the Pennsylvania Superior Court. He also helped a Las Vegas company with a lawsuit in Pittsburgh. He defends companies when former employees break non-compete agreements, steal trade secrets, speak badly about the company (trade disparagement), or try to take employees or customers. Mr. Elliott also helps people with small claims court cases and defends people who are being sued for debts, including credit card debt.
Bet the Business Litigation
In the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania, Case No:2:20-cv-1654, Mr. Elliott represented a Texas company named HHM. A worker was seriously hurt at work and had his face badly injured. This case involved a large product liability claim in federal court. In another case, we defended our client in a wrongful death lawsuit. This lawsuit was filed by a guest who fell and got hurt at a wedding on our client's property, resulting in fatal injuries. However, we managed to settle the case for an amount that helped our client stay in business.
Early Experience
After finishing law school, Mr. Elliott worked as a law clerk for Judge Peter O. Steege in the Court of Common Pleas in Beaver County, Pennsylvania. He is a member of the Allegheny County Bar Association or ACBA, the Pennsylvania Bar Association (Civil Litigation Section), and the American Bar Association.
National Reputation
Mr. Elliott has experience in civil lawsuits and also helps clients with divorce, support, custody, protection from abuse cases, and criminal defense. He won a case about custody that involved a disagreement over the child’s religion. He also won a child support case that the other side appealed to the Superior Court, where he won again. This case was featured in The New York Times, and his closing argument was quoted.
Right now, he works on complicated cases and leads his law firm's litigation group. He handles cases in arbitration, jury trials, and non-jury trials in Western Pennsylvania. Our lawyers in Pittsburgh take on all types of civil lawsuits for both those suing and those being sued. This includes issues like breach of contract, collections, construction disputes, non-compete agreements, fraud, trade secrets, and personal injury claims.
